The Moroccan national team almost had a fight in the locker room after the Africa Cup final.
Idman.Biz reports that Senegal defeated Morocco 1-0 in extra time in the final. In the 24th minute of extra time, Brahim Diaz took a penalty, and Senegal's goalkeeper Eduard Mendy caught the ball. The shot occurred after a long dispute over the penalty, and Senegal's players left the field.
In March, the African Football Confederation gave Senegal a technical penalty for leaving the field and declared Morocco the winner.
"Many players were angry with [Brahim] at the time, and the atmosphere in the dressing room was very tense. Some tried to fight Brahim, but they were separated. They were about to fight," said journalist and Moroccan football expert Said Amdaa.
"Everyone was frustrated. Many were angry with him, although some defended him. People wondered why he did that," said Said El-Abadi, author of "The History of African Football."
