Arsenal midfielder Max Dowman has become the youngest player in Champions League history.
Lent.az, citing foreign media, reports that the footballer, who grew up in the London club's academy, entered the field in the 72nd minute of the away game (3-0) against Slavia Prague in the 4th round of the tournament's group stage, replacing Leandro Trossard.
Dowman was 15 years and 308 days old when he debuted. This broke the record of Borussia Dortmund striker Youssoufa Mukoko, who debuted at 16 years and 18 days in the 2-1 victory over Zenit in December 2020.
Douman was born on December 31, 2009, and joined the Arsenal academy in 2015. Last season, Douman made his debut in the UEFA Youth League and became the club's youngest goalscorer at 14 years, 8 months and 19 days old.
Douman made his Premier League debut for Arsenal on August 23 at the age of 15 years and 235 days, and is the second youngest player in the tournament's history after teammate Ethan Nwaneri, who debuted at 15 years and 181 days in September 2022. Douman has made five appearances for Arsenal's first team and has not scored a goal.
Arsenal are second in the Champions League overall standings, behind leaders Bayern Munich on head-to-head record. The teams will meet in Munich on November 26.
