Manchester United are considering signing Racing Santander's Jorge Salinas if they fail to land Newcastle's Luis Hall.
Sport.Biz reports this with reference to TEAMtalk.
According to the source, Barcelona are also interested in Salinas. However, negotiations between the clubs have stalled as Racing are demanding around 16 million euros for the 19-year-old, while Barcelona are only willing to offer around 8 million euros.
It is noted that Manchester United's scouts believe Salinas is capable of immediately joining the team's main squad.
Racing were promoted to La Liga last season. Salinas played 34 games in all competitions and made seven productive passes. According to Transfermarkt, his market value is 8 million euros.
