In the Dutch top league (Eredivisie), the results of at least 133 matches are in danger of being invalidated due to a serious error in the registration of players.
Idman.Biz reports that this is due to the fact that some players participating in the games do not have the necessary documents. Many players in the league have accepted second citizenship of countries such as Indonesia, Suriname or Cape Verde in order to defend the honor of the respective national teams in the international arena.
However, according to Dutch law, in this case, these persons automatically lose their European citizenship. In this case, they had to obtain a work permit in order to continue their professional activities in the Netherlands.
It turned out that this violation was not noticed for several years. Only in the spring of this year, the "NAK Breda" football team discovered the legal violation and demanded that one of the matches be replayed.
