Barcelona forward Lamin Yamal has been registered as the footballer who suffers the most hate-related insults on social networks in Spain.
Idman.Biz reports that the Spanish Observatory against Racism and Xenophobia has published a new report analyzing hate speech directed at footballers and teams across the country.
According to the document, 60 percent of all insults are directed specifically at Lamin Yamal.
Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior is second on the list - his share is 29 percent. He is followed by Real Madrid forward Kilian Mbappe (3 percent), Barcelona defender Alexandro Balde (2 percent), Athletic players Inaki and Nico Williams brothers (2 percent) and Real Madrid midfielder Brahim Dias (2 percent).
In addition to showing the structure, scale and nature of insults on social networks, the report also raises the reasons why different footballers are targeted. In particular, the sharp predominance of insults directed at Lamin Yamal has strengthened public discussions.
However, observers say that despite the high percentage, Yamal's reaction to these processes has been calmer and more balanced - his more adequate behavior compared to some other footballers is particularly emphasized.
