Gabala defeated Shamakhi 3-1 in their home stadium in the last - 33rd round of the 2025/26 season of the Misli Premier League. Sport24.az reports that the head coach of the "red-blacks", Kakhaber Tskhadadze, expressed his views at the press conference held after the match:
- I congratulate my players on the victory. It was the last game. True, there would be no changes in the tournament table according to the result of the match. We wanted to make the fans happy. I thank them for supporting us to the end. We scored beautiful goals and won. The last games should help us in terms of self-confidence before the play-off match. In no case should we be complacent. Several leading players of Shamakhi were not on the field today. Nevertheless, it was good that our players were focused on the game. This pleases us. We must seriously prepare for the upcoming play-off match. Our opponent will be known tomorrow. We will prepare for that meeting within a week.
- Did you make any tactical moves or rotations in this match, thinking about the play-offs?
- We did not make any tactical changes because we did not know who the opponent was. We will know the opponent tomorrow. We will have time to prepare for the game. We are watching the games of all potential opponents.
- Which team do you want the opponent to be?
- We will prepare for the game. Sabail plays with three central defenders. Mingachevir's tactical scheme changes in some matches.
- Will you be at the game in Mingachevir tomorrow?
- I probably will be.
- Gabala easily became the champion in the I League last season. The level difference between the Premier League and the I League is big. Can there be complacency among the players in the play-off game?
- In no case can it be. We treat all opponents with respect. I told my players this. They understand it very well too. We have our own goal. We cannot be complacent. It will be a completely different match. It is a final game. Every step is very important in such a match. We understand this. The last games did not give us anything in terms of the tournament table. But we looked at these meetings as preparation for the play-offs. When I look into the eyes of the players, I see how seriously they take the upcoming game.
- Which stadium would you like the play-off match to be held in?
- This is a very important game. I hope that the match will be held in a stadium at the Premier League level, on a field with natural grass cover. There are good stadiums in Baku, Sumgayit, Tovuz. As far as I know, Tovuz city stadium is closed for repairs. I believe that the game will be held in a good stadium.
