Manchester City manager Jose Guardiola has said that the recent international break was pointless.
Lent.az reports with reference to foreign media that although the final participants of the 2026 World Cup were determined during this international break, most national teams only played friendly matches.
According to Guardiola, such breaks are inappropriate when the championship season is entering a crucial stage.
"I still find it difficult to understand what is the point of gathering players from different continents for friendly matches after playing for all these titles every three days for eight or nine months? When it's a qualifying stage, that's another matter, but friendly matches? The risk of injury is very high and it makes no sense," Guardiola emphasized.
