FIFA plans to introduce significant innovations at the 2026 World Cup.
Idman.Biz reports, citing the IFAB (International Football Association Board) website, that players who cover their mouths with their hands while talking during disputes with opposing players or referees will be penalized with a red card.
According to the source, players who leave the field on their own accord as a sign of protest against the referee's decisions will also be immediately removed from the field.
It is emphasized that these innovations will be used exclusively in the upcoming World Cup.
Note that the tournament will be hosted by the USA, Mexico, and Canada from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
