Financial problems that have been going on for years at the French club "Lyon" have come to the fore again with a new scandal. According to allegations, nearly 100 million euros (185 million AZN) are demanded from the club for unfulfilled transfers.
Idman.Biz reports that, according to "L'Equipe", a company owned by John Textor, a businessman who previously led the club, has created an opaque scheme together with "Botafogo". According to the scheme, although the clubs agreed on documents regarding the transfer of football players, these transfers were not officially registered.
According to the information, the management attracted funds in advance by convincing investors with the promise that "income will be generated from future sales." As a result, the money was transferred to Lyon's account, but the transfers were not formalized and the players remained in Botafogo.
The players most frequently mentioned in this process are Igor Jesus and Luis Henrique. In the end, only Tyaqo Almada was actually transferred to France. The publication writes that Textor tried to artificially improve the club's financial situation in this way, but the plan failed.
Currently, John Textor has already left Lyon, and investors are demanding their money back. The club is once again facing serious financial pressure and legal problems.
