The Argentina national team may be excluded from the list of participants in the 2026 World Cup.
Idman.Biz reports that a number of high-ranking officials of the Argentine Football Association (AFA) are under suspicion in connection with the corruption scandal.
In the investigation, AFA President Claudio Tapia, his confidant Pablo Toviggino, and Deputy Head of the Finance Department Luciano Nakis are listed as defendants.
The court is currently investigating the origin of their 10-hectare property located in the city of Pilar. It is reported that there is a helicopter pad, a horse farm, and more than 50 retro cars in the area.
It is noted that if court proceedings begin as a result of the investigation and it is concluded that the state has interfered in the activities of the football federation, FIFA may consider the issue of excluding the Argentina national team from the 2026 World Cup. If this scenario materializes, a decision could be made that will have serious repercussions for world football.
