Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has spoken out strongly against FIFA President Infantino's attempt to sell part of the World Cup rights to private investors.
Sport.Biz reports that last week, FIFA announced plans to create a new commercial entity, FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE), which would deal with the sale of World Cup hosting rights to private investors. However, after being heavily criticized by various football confederations, Infantino later abandoned the initiative. The reason for the withdrawal was the threat of a boycott of the World Cup by UEFA member countries, which expressed serious objections to the proposed agreement.
"The idea of not disclosing something important to your closest advisors, your CEO, or your peers on the board... this is wrong, it's a fatal mistake, and you lose trust in that person.
Of course, given what has happened since then and the nature of events, I have no trust in Mr. Infantino", the politician said.
