In recent days, Turkish and local media have claimed that "Qarabag" head coach Gurban Gurbanov is among the candidates for the head coach position of "Besiktas". It is reported that one of the candidates that the Istanbul representative, who parted ways with Sergen Yalcin a few days ago, wants to entrust the team to is the coach of "Qarabag".
According to reports, the management has already contacted the 54-year-old specialist.
Gurbanov said in response to a question about this after the game with "Sumgayit" (4:3) in the XXXIII round of the Azerbaijan Premier League that his contract with the Agdam club continues.
"Besiktas" sporting director Onder Ozen told teleqraf.az about the issue:
"Names related to the new head coach have not been clarified yet. We have no initiative or interest in Gurban Gurbanov. Gurban is a very valuable, extremely successful specialist and we have great respect for him. However, there is no such issue on the agenda of the "Besiktas" club at the moment. Finally, I would like to note that the club has no information about this issue and the published news has nothing to do with the club".
It should be noted that Gurban Gurbanov has been the head coach of "Qarabag" since 2008.
