"Manchester City" star footballer Bernardo Silva has officially announced that he will part ways with the English club at the end of the season. Sport24.az reports that the Portuguese midfielder spoke about the behind-the-scenes moments of his decision to leave and his years at the Manchester team in an interview with the "Soltinhos pelo Mundo" program.
The experienced player stated that he did not take this step with sudden emotions, but planned everything in advance:
"This is not a decision made suddenly, it took some time. It is a joint choice not only of me, but of my whole family. Back in 2023, when I signed my last contract with the club, I was thinking about leaving at the end of the season."
Saying that the match against Aston Villa this weekend is of particular importance to him, Silva did not hide that he would experience emotional moments:
"I don't think I'm going to cry. But knowing that I will be on the same field with some of my teammates for the last time is very strange and emotional. I have never been in such a great club before in my career."
Bernardo Silva pointed to winning the UEFA Champions League in the 2022/23 season as the most memorable moment in the "Citizens" squad. He even recalled the crazy celebrations after the final in Istanbul:
"The final started at 22:00 Istanbul time. We were able to return to the hotel at 02:00 at night and celebrated all night. We hadn't slept for almost two and a half days."
Touching upon his relationship with head coach Pep Guardiola, the midfielder spoke about the Catalan specialist's special affection for him and revealed his nickname in the team:
"I really don't know what I did to him, how I made him love me. But from the first day, I felt great support and love from both my coach and the club. They even jokingly gave me the nickname Bernardiola in the team."
