Aston Villa defeated German representative Freiburg 3-0 in the Europa League final match held in Istanbul and took the cup to its museum. Sport24.az reports that Prince William, who has made no secret of being an Aston Villa fan since his school years, watched the match live from the VIP stand of the stadium in Istanbul. The prince, who experienced great enthusiasm with the final whistle, could not hold back his tears of joy.
He congratulated his team by making a post on his official social media account after the match:
"What a night! Congratulations to the players, coaching staff and everyone connected with the club. It had been exactly 44 years since our last European championship."
After the match, Prince William went directly to the team's dressing room. The member of the Royal Family, who celebrated the victory together with the football players and technical staff, also took a souvenir photo with head coach Unai Emery in front of the cup.
