In the 50th minute, Girona's defender Arnau Martines reduced the gap. In the 53rd minute, 16-year-old Max Doumen scored the third goal against the Catalans. In the 55th minute, Brazilian Gabriel Jesus secured the victory.
In the first round of the English Premier League, Arsenal will face debutant Coventry at home. The match is scheduled for Friday, August 21. Girona will host the team Leganes on Sunday, August 16, in the opening round of Spanish La Liga 2.
