The reason why Ayan Allahverdiyeva was initially given a defeat in the first game of the semi-final stage of the Azerbaijan Chess Championship has been determined.
According to information obtained by "Report", the 20-year-old athlete faced this situation because she mistakenly requested a draw for the second consecutive time.
The chief referee of the competition, Lutfiyar Rustamov, explained the matter to A.Allahverdiyeva and said that she lost because of this.
The chess player then appealed to the Appeals Committee and received a positive response. Since her opponent, Turkan Mammadyarova, also agreed with the decision, the result of the first game between the parties was officially registered as a draw.
The return games of the semi-final stage of the Azerbaijan Championship will take place today.
