Today is the birthday of the world-famous representative of Azerbaijani chess, Grandmaster Teymur Rajabov. The chess player, born in Baku on March 12, 1987, turns 39 years old.
İdman.Biz reports that Teymur Rajabov earned the title of Grandmaster at the age of 14.
He entered the world chess history as the youngest chess player to defeat a world champion after defeating the then world number one Garry Kasparov at the Linares tournament in 2003.
Rajabov is considered the only chess master to have defeated three FIDE world champions - Garry Kasparov, Viswanathan Anand and Ruslan Ponomariov - in one year.
One of Rajabov's greatest achievements during his career is winning the World Cup in 2019. He is also a three-time European champion as part of the Azerbaijani national team.
Rajabov continues to be an example for young chess players with his intellectual game and strategic moves.
It should be noted that the ELO indicator of our representative, who currently maintains his position in the world chess elite, is 2689 and is 35th in the ranking of active players.
We congratulate Teymur Rajabov on his birthday and wish him new heights!
