Today, the "Sheki Open" international chess festival kicks off in Sheki. Sport24.az reports that 344 chess players from 9 countries will participate in the tournament.
56 of them will compete in the A tournament, while the others will compete in the B tournament.
The rating favorite of the A tournament is Azerbaijani grandmaster Eltaj Safarli. The second place in the starting list is taken by another Azerbaijani chess player, Ahmad Ahmadzade, and the third place is taken by Vitali Bernadski from Ukraine.
"Sheki Open" is a stage of the "Chess Tour Azerbaijan" series organized by the Azerbaijan Chess Federation.
It should be noted that the tournament, which will be held according to the Swiss system and will consist of 9 rounds, will end on June 25.
