Azerbaijan's leading grandmaster Shahriyar Mammadyarov has dropped in the updated world ranking, while Ulviyya Fataliyeva has set a personal record. Sport24.az reports that the International Chess Federation (FIDE) has announced the ranking as of December 1.
According to the updated ranking, Shahriyar Mammadyarov dropped from 14th to 19th place with 2730 points. His close neighbors are Levon Aronian (USA, 2729) and Le Quang Liem (Vietnam, 2731).
Teymur Rajabov (2692) is in 37th place, Rauf Mammadov (2645) - 78th, Eltaj Safarli (2644) - 79th, Aydin Suleymanli (2628) - 99th. Magnus Carlsen (Norway, 2840) is at the top. Hikaru Nakamura (USA, 2810) is second. Vincent Keymer (Germany, 2776) completes the top three.
Among female chess players, Azerbaijani representative Ulviyya Fataliyeva renewed her personal record and rose to the 26th place. She currently has 2434 points in her assets. Among other Azerbaijani chess players in the top 100 of the FIDE women's ranking, Gulnar Beydullayeva (2364) is 77th and Khanim Balajayeva (2351) is 92nd.
