Shahriyar Mamedyarov believes that it becomes more difficult to achieve high results in games over time.
"Report" reports that Shahriyar Mamedyarov, who came second in the Azerbaijani Chess Championship, said this in a statement to journalists.
The chess player noted that he has been losing in the final for the second year in a row:
"Of course, we want to be first in every competition. It has been going on like this for years. I have been losing in the final for the second year now. It's difficult, so for a professional chess player, reaching the final is also a success. I highly value the Azerbaijan Championship. Muhammad Muradli, whom I defeated in the quarter-finals last year, became the champion this year. Chess is developing, and our young people are playing better. Time works in their favor, and against chess players like me, it becomes more difficult for us to achieve high results. I am satisfied with the quality of my game, but not with the result."
