All semifinalists have been determined in the Azerbaijan Chess Championship.

Rauf Mammadov, the winner of last year's Azerbaijan Championship, lost to young chess player Read Samadov and left the competition.
Mahammad Muradli defeated Eltaj Safarli, who is considered one of the favorites, and made it to the semifinals. Another favorite, Nijat Abasov, lost to Aydin Suleymanli and left the championship.
In the women's competition, Turkan Mammadyarova was stronger than Narmin Abdinova in the tie-break. National team member Gulnar Mammadova defeated Khanim Balajayeva and qualified for the semifinals.
The semi-final matches of the Azerbaijan Championship will begin tomorrow.
