The second games of the 1/16 final stage of the Azerbaijan Chess Championship have been held.
The Chess Federation informed "Report" about this.
Based on the results of two games, Murad Ibrahimli defeated Vugar Manafov (1.5:0.5), Ahmad Ahmadzade defeated Allahverdi Hamidov (1.5:0.5), and Vugar Rasulov defeated Farid Orujov (2:0) to advance to the next stage.
Aydın Suleymanli, Eltaj Safarli, and Shiroglan Talibov, who defeated their opponents in both games, gained the opportunity to compete in the 1/8 finals. Mahammad Muradli and Read Samadov, who won the first game and drew in the second game, also qualified for the next stage.
Tie-break games will be played today between the sides where the winner has not been determined after two games of the 1/16 final stage. The winner between Nijat Abasov - Shamsi Garakhanov, Umid Aslanov - Khagan Ahmad, Rahim Gasimov - Mahammad Zulfugarli, Kamal Agasiyev - Farhad Tahirov, Khazar Babazade - Ravan Aliyev and Misraddin Iskandarov - Pasham Alizade will be determined in today's tie-break games.
It should be noted that the Azerbaijan Championship will end on February 22. Female chess players will join the competition from the 1/8 final stage.
