The Republic Chess Olympiad among juniors was held at the Balakan Olympic Sports Complex, organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Azerbaijan Chess Federation (ACF).
İdman.biz reports that a total of 250 chess players from 26 cities and regions of Azerbaijan competed in the A and B groups of the 11-round tournament.
In various categories, Daniel Konovalov, Malak Asadli (8 years old), Farid Sadigzade, Madina Eyvazova (10 years old), Yusif Musasoy, Maryam Mammadova (12 years old), Huseyn Gurbanov, Dinara Huseynova (14 years old), Mahammad Bagirov and Sara Karimzade (16 years old) took first place.
The team of Specialized Olympic Reserves Children and Youth Sports Chess School No. 3 and 4 won in groups A and B. The team of Ganja and Ujar Children and Youth Chess School took second place, and the team of Beylagan and Shaki Children and Youth Chess School took third place.
It should be noted that, according to the regulations, Mahammad Bagirov and Dinara Huseynova, who took 1st place among boys and girls in group A, will be sent to the European Youth Championship to be held in Montenegro in November.
