The prize fund of the Azerbaijan Chess Championship is planned to be increased in 2027.
"Report" reports that this was stated by the President of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation, Mahir Mammadov, in a statement to journalists after the opening ceremony of the national championship.
The head of the organization shared his impressions of the competition:
"This year's Azerbaijan Championship is also eagerly awaited. The championship will be organized according to the FIDE game rules based on the Olympic system. As you know, the prize fund of the competition has been increased. It is planned to increase the prize fund even further next year. All chess players have taken part in the championship. Some grandmasters could not participate in the competition. One of the chess players, Vasif Durarbeyli, lives in America. Namig Guliyev was supposed to come from France and participate in the tournament".
