Azerbaijani chess player Khagan Ahmad (rapid rating - 2290) commented on the game in which he defeated Hikaru Nakamura (USA, 2804), who is second in the FIDE rating, at the World Blitz Team Championship in London.
"Report" reports with reference to the press service of the Chess Federation that the chess player said that the World Championship was memorable for him with unforgettable moments.
He stated that he had an exciting start to the game with H. Nakamura:
"The World Team Championship was memorable for me with many unforgettable moments. When it became known a day before that I would play against Hikaru Nakamura, who is second in the world ranking, the whole team started to get excited. The fight with Nakamura started a bit excitedly. The opponent made some mistakes. Then Hikaru tried to find a way out of the situation for a draw. There was some pressure felt in the game. I admit that the victory made me happy. It was my first victory over such a strong chess player in my career. I hope it will be continuous. Unfortunately, the "Turkish Airlines" team I played for could not qualify for the 1/8 finals".
Khagan Ahmad expressed his gratitude to his teammates with whom he played together in London:
"I would like to thank Captain Ozgur Bey and the chess players I played with. I rate the result of our young chess team well. We made a good name for ourselves with the results we achieved at the World Championship. I would like to say thank you to everyone who congratulated me after the game with Nakamura. It was a pleasure to see Azerbaijani chess player Rauf Mammadov, who plays for another team in London, among those watching the game. Rauf Mammadov was the first to congratulate me after the game with Nakamura ended. Therefore, I would like to say thank you to the Azerbaijani champion".
