Today is the birthday of Aydın Süleymanlı, one of the brightest stars of Azerbaijani chess, an international grandmaster.
İdman.Biz reports that Aydın Süleymanlı, who was born in Baku on March 22, 2005, has achieved magnificent titles in his career despite his young age. In 2024, he won the title of Azerbaijani champion among male chess players, after winning a tense final battle with Mahammad Muradli.
His achievements in the international arena are also very rich. Aydın won the title of European champion among eight-year-olds in 2013 and among 12-year-olds in 2017. In 2014, he became the strongest on the continent among 10-year-old boys in blitz and rapid chess. In 2019, he won a gold medal among 14-year-olds at the world championship held in Mumbai, India, and rose to the title of world champion. In the same year, he also became the winner of the World Chess Olympiad as a member of the youth team.
One of the most sensational victories of our grandmaster was recorded in 2020 at the prestigious "Aeroflot Open" tournament held in Moscow. Aydın, being only 14 years old, won this tournament and entered chess history as one of the youngest winners.
Currently, Aydın Süleymanlı, a key member of the Azerbaijani national team, maintains his high position in the international ranking and represents our country with dignity.
Aydın Süleymanlı also continues to be among the world's strongest young chess players, surpassing the 2600 mark in the international ranking.
