Five Azerbaijani chess players are showing 100% results at the individual European Chess Championship currently taking place in Katowice, Poland.
İdman.Biz reports that Aydin Suleymanli, Read Samadov, Khazar Babazada, Muhammad Muradli, and Nijat Abasov are among those who started the continental championship with two consecutive victories.
They are all in the leading group with two points. However, according to additional indicators, Suleymanli takes first place. In turn, Samadov is 24th, Babazada is 35th, Muradli is 52nd, and Abasov is 53rd.
It should be noted that in the third round, Suleymanli will face Samadov, Babazada will face Daniel Daron representing Belgium, Muradli will play with Polish Lukasz Lijne, and Abasov will play a game with Ukrainian Svyatoslav Bazakuts.
Other Azerbaijani chess players have scored less than two points and are currently outside the leading group. It should be noted that in the first round, 10 out of 13 Azerbaijani chess players won.
It is worth remembering that based on the results of the European Championship, the first 20 chess players will qualify for the 2027 World Cup.
