According to Idman.Biz, Azerbaijani Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov said this at the closing ceremony of the "Baku Open 2026" International Chess Festival.
He emphasized that these competitions are not held for the first time and have already become a tradition. The Minister also emphasized President Ilham Aliyev's support for sports, as well as the availability of many venues for holding sports events.
"Baku becoming the sports capital of the world is an achievement for the country. Everyone has contributed to this: from various government agencies and federations to volunteers," Gayibov noted.
