The Azerbaijani chess players who will participate in the open championship among Turkic-speaking countries to be held in Astana, Kazakhstan, have been determined.

It was reported that our country will be represented in the championship in both men's and women's competitions. Ahmad Ahmadzade, Misratdin Iskandarov, Khazar Babazade, Shiroglan Talibov, and Murad Ibrahimli will play in the Azerbaijani men's chess team. The captain of the team will be Qadir Huseynov.
Ulviyya Fataliyeva, Gunay Mammadzada, Govhar Beydullayeva, Khanim Balajayeva, and Gulnar Mammadova have been included in the women's team. Ilaha Gadimova has been approved as the captain.
Within the framework of the tournament, a championship among 16-year-olds will also be held. In the U-16 tournament, our country will be represented by Khagan Ahmad, Shamsi Garakhanov, Pasham Alizade, and Lala Huseynova under the leadership of captain Farid Abbasov.
According to the regulations, 30 seconds will be added to each move in games consisting of 45 minutes. A total of 7 rounds will be played.
In addition to Azerbaijan, chess players from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, and Uzbekistan will also participate in the competition to be held on May 14-17.
