The prestigious "Grand Swiss" international chess tournament continues in Samarkand (Uzbekistan).
Idman.biz reports that Azerbaijan is represented in the competition by Shahriyar Mammadyarov, Rauf Mammadov, Aydin Suleymanli, Magomed Muradli, Ulviyya Fataliyeva, Govhar Beydullayeva and Khanim Balajayeva. In the second round, Mammadyarov, Suleymanli, Fataliyeva, Beydullayeva and Balajayeva drew, while Mammadov and Muradli lost.
After two rounds, the best result among men is shown by Aydin Suleymanli, who is in 11th place with 1.5 points. In the women's competition, the greatest success was shown by Ulviyya Fataliyeva, who is also in 5th place with 1.5 points.
The prize fund of the competition is 855 thousand dollars. 172 athletes are participating in the tournament.
