Azerbaijani grandmasters Aydin Suleymanli and Nijat Abasov continue their fight for leadership at the European Chess Championship held in Katowice, Poland.
Idman.Biz reports that after the 8th round, Suleymanli and Abasov share 2nd-10th places with 6.5 points each. According to additional indicators, they are in 4th and 6th places, respectively. The tournament table is headed by Spaniard David Guijarro with 7 points.
In the 8th round, Aydin Suleymanli drew with Georgian Nikoloz Kachrava and will face tournament leader David Guijarro in the next game. Nijat Abasov defeated Turkish representative Atila Kum and will face Israeli Benny Ayzenberg in the 9th round.
After an unsuccessful start, Muhammad Muradli is also progressing. He won against Czech Jiri Stocek in the 8th round and rose to 22nd place with 6 points. Riad Samadov is also not performing badly - he is in 36th place with 5.5 points.
