The opening ceremony of the final stage of the Azerbaijan Chess Championship among chess players aged 8-18 took place in the city of Ganja.

It was reported that at the beginning of the event organized in the Ganja Sports Palace, the dear memory of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs who died for the freedom of our lands was commemorated with a minute of silence. Then the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played.
It should be noted that the championship is held in the 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18 age categories, divided into boys' and girls' categories. According to the "Criteria for the formation of Azerbaijani national chess teams and the chess player support program" for age groups, the Azerbaijani champions will be sent to the 2026 world and European championships in the corresponding age group, and the chess players who take the second place will be sent to the 2026 European championship in the corresponding age group. Since the world championship format of the 8, 10, 12 age groups has changed, chess players who achieve high results in these age groups will participate in the world cup.
The competition will end on March 30.
