The "Bucharest Grand Prix 2026" rapid chess tournament was held in Romania.
Idman.Biz reports that Azerbaijan was represented by Rauf Mammadov and Aydın Suleymanli in the tournament attended by 27 countries.
Mexican chess player Jose Martinez Alkantara and our compatriot Aydın Suleymanli, who scored 8.5 points each, shared the first and second places in the end. Aydın Suleymanli, a member of the Azerbaijan national team, finished the tournament in second place according to additional indicators. Our other chess player, Rauf Mammadov, took seventh place with 8 points.
It should be noted that 581 chess players competed in the Grand Prix.
