One of the biggest surprises of the concluding Azerbaijan Chess Championship was the performance of Ayan Allahverdiyeva.
Idman.Biz reports that Ayan Allahverdiyeva advanced to the final in the women's chess competition and settled for a silver medal, losing to Ulviyya Fataliyeva in a tense final match.
The new vice-champion assessed her success as follows:
"Second place is a good result for me. I felt comfortable in the final and, frankly, I still can't say why I lost. I need to analyze it."
