The XXXIII National Shotokan Karate Championship was held with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, organized and led by the Azerbaijan Karate Federation, under the federation.
İdman.biz reports that about 400 athletes from Baku, Sumgayit, Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Ganja, Shirvan, Gazakh, Shaki, Ujar, Lankaran, Salyan and other regions tested their strength in the competition held at the Absheron Olympic Sports Complex.
About 30 clubs from different regions of the republic participated in the championship.
The event was attended by Elchin Mehdizade, a member of the board of the Azerbaijan Karate Federation, head of Shotokan karate style, Vusal Abdullazade, assistant to the president of the Azerbaijan Karate Federation, well-known representatives of the sports community, coaches, judges, athletes and sports fans.
In the team standings, "Garagaplan" Sports Club took the first place, "Arpachay" Karate Club took the second place, and the Ministry of Emergency Situations - "Budokan" Sports Club took the third place.
