The U-19 European Championship held in the Czech Republic was successful for Azerbaijani boxers.
This was stated by Elbrus Rzayev, the head coach of the youth team, to "Report".
He emphasized that Bilalhabashi Nazarov, who went down in Azerbaijani history as a two-time European champion, will test his strength among adults from next year:
"The European Championship was very successful for us. We went to the competition with 6 boxers. We won three medals. Zidan Humbatov and Subhan Babayev won bronze medals, and Bilalhabashi Nazarov won a gold medal. Bilal entered Azerbaijani history by winning the title of European champion for the second time. We will try to prepare well and return to the homeland with medals in the next competitions as well. Bilal will test himself in competitions among adults from next year. We will also try to train replacements for such boxers."
It should be noted that Azerbaijani boxers finished the European Championship with 5 medals. Bilalhabashi Nazarov (50 kg) won gold, Banuchichek Nasirli (48 kg) won silver, Zidan Humbatov (55 kg), Subhan Babayev (60 kg) and Ilkana Ahmadova (+80 kg) won bronze medals.
