The U-19 European Boxing Championship in Ostrava, Czech Republic, has concluded its quarterfinal matches.
Idman.biz reports that another athlete from the Azerbaijani national team has advanced to the semifinals on the second day of the stage.
Zidan Humbatov (55 kg) defeated Sasha Menkaroni (Italy) – 5:0 (30:26, 30:27, 30:27, 29:28, 30:27). He will fight Riza Muhammed Safari (England) in the semifinals.
Thus, the number of boxers who secured at least a bronze medal for themselves by reaching the semifinals has increased to 5. Bilalhabashi Nazarov (50 kg), Subhan Babayev (60 kg), and Banuchichek Nasirli (48 kg) will compete for the final on October 7. Ilkana Ahmadova (+80 kg) and Humbatov will enter the semifinal match 1 day later.
It should be noted that October 6 is a rest day at the European Championship.
