Azerbaijani taekwondo athletes are currently performing unsuccessfully at the world championships held in Wuxi, China.
According to Idman.Biz, Azerbaijan is represented at the World Championship under the leadership of head coach Mammad Abdullayev by Bahruz Guluzade (54 kg), Gasim Mammadov (58 kg), Fuad Tahmazov (63 kg), Riyad Shiraliyev (68 kg), Javad Agayev (74 kg), Taleh Suleymanov (80 kg), Eltaj Gafarov (87 kg), Minaya Akbarova (46 kg) and Samarrukh Osmanova (49 kg).
Seven of the athletes mentioned have already finished their performances and remained without medals. Among them is Riyad Shiraliyev (68 kg), who lost in the first match today.
Two Azerbaijani taekwondo athletes, however, retain their chances of winning a medal. These are Javad Agayev, the bronze medalist of the 2022 World Championship, and Gasim Mammadov, the silver medalist of the Paris Olympic Games.
