Sanjar Taskenbay, the 2023 world champion and Kazakh boxer, admitted that the fight against Azerbaijani Subkhan Mammadov in the World Cup semi-final was a real test for him.
İdman.biz reports that although the fight in the 50 kg weight category ended with a unanimous decision of the judges, the road to the final was not easy.
Taskenbay spoke about the strength of his opponent: "It was not easy to fight such an opponent - European champion, tall, long-armed. I had to strictly follow the tactics determined by the coaches. Everything went well, but the fight was not easy."
It should be noted that Azerbaijani boxer Subkhan Mammadov won a bronze medal at the World Boxing Cup held in Astana.
