The cause of death of former world champion Ricky Hatton has been revealed.
"Sky Sports", citing the South Manchester court, reports that the boxer committed suicide.
Idman.Biz reports that he passed away on September 14 at the age of 47. Hatton was found unresponsive in his bedroom.
His body was discovered by his manager and friend, Paul Speak. According to the court, Hatton's family last saw him "healthy" on September 12. The next day, Hatton did not attend an event, and on the 14th, Speak went to pick him up to take him to Manchester Airport. From there, Hatton was supposed to fly to Dubai to hold a press conference to announce his return to sports.
Hatton holds champion titles in the IBF (2005 and 2007), WBA (2005), and IBO (2007) light welterweight divisions, and the WBA (2006) and IBO (2009) light welterweight divisions. He won 45 out of 48 professional fights, losing 3.
