Azerbaijani female taekwondo practitioner Minaya Akbarova wants to succeed at the World Championship.
The athlete herself, who won a gold medal at the "Polish Open" international tournament held in Poland, said this in an interview with "Report".
She talked about her high performance:
"This is the second gold medal I have won on the eve of the World Championship. A week ago, we showed high results both individually and as a team at the "Swiss Open" international tournament held in St. Gallen, Switzerland. The last competition I participated in was a very important and difficult tournament. The 4 opponents I faced - representatives of Finland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Saudi Arabia and Israel - are also among the athletes who will participate in the upcoming World Championship. Although the fights were very intense for me, I managed to reach the highest level in the competition."
M.Akbarova said that they are preparing for the upcoming World Championship:
"I would like to express my gratitude to the leadership of the Azerbaijan Taekwondo Federation for their support in our participation in all competitions and for the conditions created for our participation in training camps. We will continue training from tomorrow. Our main goal is the upcoming World Championship. Hopefully, we will perform successfully there as well."
It should be noted that Azerbaijani taekwondo players won a total of 3 medals at the "Polish Open" international tournament. Minaya Akbarova surpassed all her opponents and became the champion. Gashim Magomedov (63 kg) and Javad Agayev (80 kg) won bronze medals.
