The squad of the Azerbaijani karate team that will participate in the license-type tournament for the World Championship has been determined.
According to Idman.biz, our national team will be represented by eight athletes in the competition to be held in Paris, the capital of France, on October 17-19.
The team under the leadership of head coach Shahin Atamov includes these karate fighters: Farid Savadov (60 kg), Nuran Rzazade (67 kg), Rashid Suleymanov (75 kg), Turgut Huseynov (84 kg), Asiman Gurbanli (+84 kg), Fatima Jabrayilova (50 kg), Madina Sadigova (55 kg), Aysu Aliyeva (61 kg).
Head coach Shahin Atamov said the following in his statement to Idman.biz about the competition:
"To qualify for the World Championship, you need to be in the top six in each weight category. In our opinion, this will not be a problem for male karate fighters - all five of our athletes are capable of winning a license. Among women, the real chance mainly belongs to one person. It would be a pleasant surprise if we achieve more results".
It should be noted that Irina Zaretska, a three-time world champion who competes in the 68 kg weight category, won a direct ticket to the World Cup thanks to her rating and will not participate in the tournament in Paris. The World Championship will be held in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, on November 27-30.
