The administration of the penal colony where MMA fighter Ivan Yemelyanenko is serving his sentence has granted his petition for parole.
Idman.biz reports that this was announced by the well-known Russian sports promoter Vladimir Khryunov.
"The most important thing that happened is that the penal institution itself took the initiative and granted his petition for parole. Now we just have to wait for the court to approve it. The court will be on Wednesday, September 10. Ivan Yemelyanenko will be the second person to be released from this institution after actor Mikhail Yefremov," Khryunov said.
Ivan Yemelyanenko was sentenced to one and a half years in prison in December 2024. The Stary Oskol court found him guilty of beating a person who repeatedly insulted the athlete and spread false information about him. Ivan is the younger brother of Fedor and Alexander Yemelyanenko.
