The "Heydar Aliyev Cup-2025" international tournament among junior boys and girls boxers has started in Baku.
Idman.biz reports that 35 fights took place on the first day of the competition, which was attended by 8 countries.
6 athletes of the Azerbaijani national team started the tournament held at the Baku Boxing Center with a victory. In our team, Karim Sultanov (54 kg) defeated his teammate Amin Hasanzade with a full advantage.
Nihat Agayev (60 kg) defeated Davit Narsia (Georgia, 5:0), Deniz Zeynalov (66 kg) Zakariyya Rahimov (Azerbaijan, 5:0), Nurlan Suleymanov (66 kg) Fayoziddin Fozilov (Uzbekistan, 4:1), Hasanali Maharramzade (66 kg) Tuneni (Turkey, 5:0) and Elvin Ahmadli (70 kg) defeated Nihat Pehlevan (Turkey, 5:0).
There will be 38 matches on the second day of the competition.
It should be noted that along with the Azerbaijani national team, the national teams of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Montenegro, Russia, Belarus, Turkey and Georgia are competing in the competition. At the tournament attended by 216 (185 boys, 31 girls) boxers, winners will be determined in 14 weight categories for boys and 9 for girls. The final matches of "Heydar Aliyev Cup-2025" will be held on May 21.
