Abu Yusupov, a 39-year-old Chechen boxer who competed under the German flag, died in Berlin as a result of a stab wound. Sport24.az reports, citing the "Tagesspiegel" portal, that the incident occurred at the Gesundbrunnen railway station.
The boxer died in the hospital after being stabbed in the neck during a conflict with a group of Afghans.
Law enforcement officers are investigating the incident and searching for the person who stabbed Yusupov.
The boxer had ten fights in the super middleweight and lightweight divisions and never lost. Yusupov debuted in the professional ring in 2020.
The deceased is survived by his wife and three young children.
