Ali Rashad, a resident of Khirdalan, stated that his son Muhammad Ali was treated unfairly and announced that he had filed a complaint with the Azerbaijan Boxing Federation.
Idman.biz reports that the young boxer's parent voiced a number of claims in a letter of complaint addressed to Fanat.Az regarding this.
The Boxing Federation has issued a statement on the matter. The organization stated that no official appeal regarding this has been received by the Azerbaijan Boxing Federation:
"Therefore, it was not possible to conduct an investigation. In accordance with the rules of the ABF, after the appeal is received, it is investigated by a special committee, and if any violations are detected, appropriate measures are taken. ABF is a member of World Boxing and IBA. For this reason, the national team participates in the European Championship organized by both organizations. Our Federation is currently paying special attention to the development of children's boxing. Schoolboy boxers are given the chance to show and test themselves in the international arena. It was our national cadet team that set a historical record at the European Championship organized by IBA in July. All of this is gratifying. Muhammad Ali also won a bronze medal in the same competition. All the necessary conditions are created for the development of each schoolboy boxer and they are tested in various competitions. That boxer participated in one European Championship, this time we will test a different schoolboy. In addition, taking into account that Muhammad Ali lost in the 52 kg test fight, a stronger boxer will represent our country at the next continental championship. Otherwise, it would be unfair to that boxer and parent."
