Baku may host the UFC tournament for the second time this year.
Idman.biz reports that this was stated by Ali Isayev, former Azerbaijani freestyle wrestler, winner of European and World Cups, and currently a professional MMA fighter.
He spoke about it in an interview with Sputnik Azerbaijan: "I spoke directly with representatives of the Azerbaijani delegation of the organizing committee, and they said that two UFC tournaments are planned in Baku. I hope that this will happen and that I will be able to fight there as well. As for the timing of the second tournament, the fighter suggested that it could take place at the end of this year. I think negotiations are already underway regarding the date of the second tournament."
He also said that he might participate in the UFC night to be held tomorrow: "I realized this very late, and as a result, I was late in including myself among the participants of the tournament."
Ali Isayev has had 10 fights in professional MMA. He won nine of them and drew once. In 2019, he became the champion of the second most important American promotion, the PFL, earning $1 million.
It should be noted that three Azerbaijani fighters will compete on Saturday at the "Baku Crystal Hall". Rafael Fiziyev will face Chilean Ignacio Bahamondes, Nazim Sadykhov will face Brazilian Nikolas Mota, and Tofig Musayev will face Kyrgyz Mytktybek Orolbay.
