"I was very well prepared for the European Championship. We worked very hard during training camps, both with my national and personal coach, and thank God, we saw the results."
This was stated to the official website of the Azerbaijan Boxing Federation by Amina Taghi, the winner of the European Championship among juniors held in Novi Pazar, Serbia.
The 15-year-old boxer, who won the title of the strongest on the continent in the 50 kg category, assessed her victory. She stated that her goal was a gold medal when she went to the competition: "The European Championship was successful for me. I was confident in myself and my abilities. In the semi-final, I faced Dominika Vnukova from Slovakia and won the match with complete superiority. In the final, my opponent was Armenian Amest Afrikyan. In that fight, I understood that no matter what, I had to win. I was very well prepared for the decisive match. My coaches and family gave me excellent motivation before the match. As a result, I fought confidently in the ring and won the victory that was important for me. I am happy. The award ceremony was not held in the arena, but in the city center. There is no limit to my joy for playing the Azerbaijani anthem in Novi Pazar."
Amina Taghi also announced her main goal. According to her, her biggest goal is to achieve success at the Olympic Games: "All the training and hard work I am doing now is calculated for the magnificent competition of 4 years."
