Alim Nabiyev, an Azerbaijani athlete who won his second fight in MMA, did not expect to defeat his Turkish opponent in the first round.
He said this in an interview with "Report".
The 7-time world and 3-time European kickboxing champion shared his impressions of his second victory in MMA:
"I expected my opponent to be stronger and put up a good resistance. Because my rating in kickboxing is high, opponents are hesitant to enter the ring when they watch my fights. True, the Turkish athlete couldn't do what he wanted either. But thank you for not being afraid and entering the octagon to fight me. Until then, several athletes had refused to fight me. Because I am new to MMA, my rating is very low. I had only fought 1 fight before and won. I didn't expect to be so superior in the ring. But I felt comfortable. Because I have had many fights in kickboxing."
He said he wants to increase the number of his victories:
"I currently have two wins. I want to continue and increase the number of my wins to 5 in order to sign a contract with the UFC. It has not been decided who my opponent will be in the next fight. There are invitations from Turkey, USA, Dubai. I want to enter the octagon again by the end of the year. I have also planned two fights for the next year."
It should be noted that A. Nabiyev won the second victory of his MMA career by knocking out his Turkish opponent Oguzhan Atak in the first round at the "Grand Bellagio & GFC" international tournament held in Batumi, Georgia.
