An interview with Polina Rahimova, a volleyball player of the Azerbaijani national team, for Idman.biz
- You became the champion of Brazil with "Osasco". How would you comment on your victory?
- My feelings are mixed. There is both joy and a little sadness. Because when I came to this club, I was supposed to play in the main team. We trained accordingly. But when the championship started, the coach put the local player in the main team. I had to appear in certain games or as a substitute. However, while I was on the field, I tried to play at the highest level, and I succeeded. Even though I played little, my statistics are among the best. I am very happy that I performed well.
- How do you evaluate the season in general?
- At the beginning of the season, we won the Paulista championship. This is a competition held in one region. Then we played in the Brazilian Cup. Eight of the strongest teams competed here. We won the cup and became champions. Also, throughout the season, our games continued in the Brazilian championship. In the semi-finals, we faced a very strong "Minas". This team has famous players, and we also worked together with the head coach Nikola Negro in Azerbaijan a few years ago. They have been champions for several years in a row. Although we lost the first game in the semi-finals, we won the return match with a score of 3:2. The last match was held in the opponent's field, the opponent was the favorite. But we won with a score of 3:0 and reached the final. We also played well in the decisive stage, won and won the gold medal of the Brazilian championship.
- If we compare the Brazilian and Azerbaijani leagues, what differences can you note?
- There is not much difference between the two leagues. We played the cup matches with new rules that will be applied in volleyball. It was interesting.
- Based on what you said, it can be concluded that you will leave "Osasco". Or are you thinking of extending the contract?
- The games have just ended, now I will rest a little. Next season I will play for "Panionis" in Greece.
- How will your experience abroad affect your performance with the Azerbaijani national team?
- With these great results, we are raising Azerbaijani volleyball to the heights. I am very happy that I was able to help the development and recognition of Azerbaijani volleyball. With these results that we have achieved with the team, I will be able to raise our flag even more proudly. This is very important. Because I think that everything we do is for the development of our volleyball. Finally, I would like to thank everyone who congratulated and supported me on the occasion of the championship.
